The use of UAVs in the agricultural field is growing day by day, and although this technique is quite new, it has proved to be a potential alternative to traditional methods. We know about different applications of drones used nowadays in precision agriculture, such as high-definition aerial imagery or crop health monitoring.
But what about pesticide spraying and the pollution it causes? Avionics Control System is currently developing an ambitious project to create an unmanned aerial vehicle capable of carrying 20 kilos of pesticide and spraying crops in the most effective and efficient way: The Agrodrone.
Any of the conventional solutions existing nowadays do not seem to be totally effective carrying out an efficient spraying in both vertical and horizontal crops. Light aircraft spray systems are only profitable when using over large areas; tractors can only operate when the crop is beginning its development because it is a terrestrial driving technique and horticulturists carrying out individual fumigation need high protection measures due to the high toxicity. Additionally, in most of these cases pesticide’s selective application’s rate is very low, and there is a high rate of air dispersion depending on weather conditions and therefore affecting other crops and nature.
The Agrodrone is the answer to all these problems.
Given its technical characteristics, the financial and material resources’ optimization is high, and due to the elective and specific work this unmanned system carries out, air and soil pollution rates are very low.
Product application is very simple: direct projection on the affected area by air. The spraying of the product can be dispersed into the desired radio and even modified in real time by the user.
The Agrodrone can be used during any season of the year, since it does not destroy the crop when entering the land like the other methods do and has great maneuverability inside forests.
This method means maximum respect towards the environment and maximum cost reduction. Apart from this, the Agrodrone does not produce harmful gases or waste.
